Light TypeThe type of light in a video lighting kit can vary, including options like LED, fluorescent, and tungsten lights. LED lights are energy-efficient, have a long lifespan, and produce less heat, making them ideal for most users. Fluorescent lights offer soft, even lighting and are also energy-efficient, but they can be bulkier. Tungsten lights provide a warm light but consume more power and generate more heat. Brightness (Lumens)Brightness, measured in lumens, determines how much light the kit can produce. Higher lumens mean brighter light. For small indoor setups, 500-1000 lumens may be sufficient. For larger spaces or outdoor shoots, you might need 2000 lumens or more. Consider the size of your filming area and the amount of natural light available. If you need to light a large area or shoot in low-light conditions, opt for higher lumens. For smaller, well-lit spaces, lower lumens will suffice.
CRI (Color Rendering Index)CRI measures the light's ability to reveal the true colors of objects, with a scale from 0 to 100. A higher CRI (90 and above) indicates better color accuracy, which is important for professional video production. If color accuracy is crucial for your videos, such as in product reviews or fashion shoots, choose lights with a high CRI. For general content creation where color precision is less critical, a CRI of 80-90 is acceptable.
PortabilityPortability refers to how easy it is to transport and set up the lighting kit. Kits with lightweight, foldable stands and compact lights are more portable. If you frequently shoot on location or need to move your setup often, prioritize portability. For a stationary studio setup, portability is less of a concern, and you can opt for more robust, less portable options.
